Junior Studium, Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt
Selective dual enrollment. University-level physics and engineering during high school.

During high school, I joined the selective Junior Studium program at Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt. I was only the second student ever from my school to be accepted into the program. I completed university-level courses in mechanics, thermodynamics, atomic physics, electrical engineering, instrumental analytics, and quantum mechanics, sitting the same exams as full-time university students. An early step into the kind of work I enjoy most: technical, demanding, and grounded in understanding how things actually work.
Pursue technical depth beyond what the high school curriculum offered, in subjects that actually matched where my interests were pointing.
- Selective admission. Only the second student from my school ever accepted.
- Exams sat alongside full-time university students, no separate track
- Focused on physics and engineering courses rather than spreading across unrelated subjects. Depth over breadth.
- Pursued this alongside a full high school load, which forced real prioritization
- 01
Admitted to the Junior Studium program at the start of grade 9
- 02
Completed coursework and university exams across six technical subjects over three years
- 03
Passed all exams
Completed six university-level courses across theoretical physics and applied engineering. Built early technical depth in areas that directly inform the hardware and aerospace work I do now.
- University physics has a different standard than school physics. Showing your working matters as much as getting the right answer.
- Quantum mechanics at 15 is hard. It is also exactly the kind of thing worth doing early if you want to build intuition for it later.
